So I was scrolling the oul newsfeed as you do on the social media and I came across an ad for the “National Football Exhibition”. This is ruuning as part of the Euro 2020 Qualifying Draw that took place in the Convention Centre the weekend.. you may of seen the Samuel Beckett bridge lit up for the event (well that was why)
A few other events took place to coincide with Dublin being a host city of the tournament (being a host city means 4 games of the Euro tournament will take place in the Aviva, Dublin) the likes of street football, including a one-v-one cage, target practice, keepie uppie test, and accruacy shooting all happened at various locations in Dublin City Centre this week.
Now Mammys and non footballer interested people, its grand, you can ryhme off the above to the kids and let them think your a newcomer footballing fountain of knowledge 😂
The brilliant thing about the events and the exhibition was they were for all ages and abilities, open to the public, and FREE.
On arrival, having pre downloaded the app if you choose to, available in the app and google play store, you can do the audio tour from the app. Free earphones are provided to connect to your device and bobs your uncle. Aswell as this you get 2 free programmes. One based on the Euro Draw the other on Irish football itself. Its a win win here.
The Exhibition is made up of six zones, with each zone designed to give you an overview of the various different aspects of football in Ireland, the impact this has around the country, some of your favourite and most memorable National and International moments and a look at some of the most iconic moments over the last 60 years of the EUROs.
The zones were made up with memorabilia displays and interactive stations with videos that you watch amd listen to with earphones provided, quizzes one on the euros another on Irish Euro footballing history, and an opportunity to step up to the mic and record your own commentary, this was the fun part by far… you select a video from 4 key moments, Haughton putting it in the back of the English net being one of them, and you become the commentator with the headset. Like the photo opps throughout the exhibition, you then email them to yourself and you have them as your own memorabilia. No money required for your photo or video.
Obvs this isn’t for everyone but it really is worth a trip in, esp of you have any football mad kids as they can get involved in it all. My husband was like a kid in there 😂
Although it is currently in Dublin, till Dec 9th Ive put below the dates and times, and to top it off it will visit 7 other counties throughout Ireland within 2019/20, counties and month planned also below for the tour 👍 If you go, enjoy! We also took a nice stroll around Dublin Castle and the grounds afterwards, a great little evening get out.
